Your Intuition is a Muscle that Must be Utilized andĀ Strengthened

Call it a hunch, a gut feeling, sixth sense, intuition, etc. At some point or another, the majority of us have felt/heard that inner voice telling us what to do. Sometimes the voice can be a faint whisper. At other times, particularly for people who have fine-tuned their listening skills, this voice can be a loud warning. Intuition is something each of us possesses. However, to cultivate a strong intuition, we must listen and adhere to this very special built-in security  system that has our best interest in mind.

Growing up, I can remember several instances that my intuition was trying to tell me something. I ignored it. The hunches grew less frequent, and much quieter. Not until I moved to Spain junior year in college did I truly listen. I was exploring the city by foot, alone, on a beautiful sunny day in Madrid. There was a very narrow street that I was fast approaching. There were three construction workers in the center of the street, blocking most of the passageway. I had a visceral, almost wave-like jolt through my body that I could not explain. All I knew was I had to listen to this “voice” that was strongly advising not to take that road. I veered away. Who knows if there was an actual danger at hand. What I do know, however, is that from that moment on, I listened to every gut feeling I experienced, and my intuition grew stronger, solidified, and has yet to fail me. I feel like I am never alone, and always have this little angel watching out for my best interests.
