Deepen and Enrich Your Practice.

Yin Yoga Teacher Training
March 12-14, 2021
Up Yoga Mpls
Deepen your yoga teaching by adding Yin Yoga to your repertoire. Balancing out the Yang (active) side of the yoga practice, and life in general, Yin (passive) yoga is a subtle yet complex practice that addresses the fascia of the body with long holds. In this comprehensive 22 hour training, students will learn about the meridians of the body affected by Yin postures, the yoga and Taoist philosophy steeped in the Yin tradition, how to sequence and teach a Yin practice, how to skillfully hold space for a quieter, more restorative practice, as well as how to best assist students of all levels and backgrounds individually. This training is recommended for teachers who have completed their 200-hour teacher training in any lineage, or are currently in the process of completing a 200-hour training. Continuing education credits are available through Yoga Alliance.

Yoga Philosophy: Yamas & Niyamas
April 17, 12-2pm (online only at Up Yoga)
Oct 17, 1-3pm (in person at Up Yoga)
Do you often wonder where yoga comes from? What does it mean to be a yogi? Have you noticed that yoga has affected all aspects of your life? Take your practice deeper by studying the Yamas & Niyamas, the ethical guidelines outlined in the first two limbs of Patanjali's 8-limbed path in the Yoga Sutras.
In this discussion and lecture-based workshop, we will dive deep into what it means to be a yogi on and off your mat, and by sharing real life examples, make the material relatable, practical and relevant. The study of the Yamas & Niyamas will enrich your practice and your life. All levels welcome.
Qualifies for 2 hours of Yoga-Alliance approved Continuing Education Credits.

Chakras
May 1st, 12-2pm (online only at Up Yoga)
Nov 14th, 1-3pm ( in person at Up Yoga)

This workshop is designed for the yogi who wants to deepen his/her understanding of the subtle body by taking a journey through the chakras, the 7 major energy centers within the body that align with the spine and the endocrine system. Each chakra is associated with a color, mudra, element, stage of life, characteristic, part of the body, emotion, etc.
Sometimes referred to as the "psychology of yoga," yogis will gain a greater understanding of self by deepening their awareness of this subtle body energy. For optimal health and balance, we want the chakras to be flowing freely. We will close the lecture with a short chakra-based physical practice, so yogis will have the opportunity to feel these subtle energy centers within their own bodies.
All levels welcome.
Qualifies for 2 hours of Yoga-Alliance approved Continuing Education Credits.

Intro to Ayurveda
May 15th, 12-2pm (online only at Up Yoga)

Ayurveda translates from Sanskrit as the "science of life." We are each born with a certain constitution, or dosha, that determines our personalities, body types, food preferences, emotions, etc. In this workshop, you will learn how to determine your own personal dosha and which breath techniques, yoga styles, postures, foods, and mudras correspond with your particular makeup. The workshop is intended for students of all levels and will also include a short physical practice exploring each dosha and its properties.
You will leave the workshop with a better understanding of this ancient science that will add a new layer of depth to your yoga practice and help you find balance beyond the mat using special techniques designed for your particular dosha.
